Packing - Women - Cool Weather

By cool weather I mean 'not hot' - think summertime in a temperate climate or spring/fall in a warm place.  You should have a general idea of what to expect weather-wise and plan accordingly.  This is just a guideline, so if you are going to a place that gets a lot of rain bring a rain jacket.  If you can get away with just taking a small umbrella and a light windbreaker in the off-chance of rain, then do that instead.

This is an example of what I would take on a 2-3 week trip with access to laundry facilities and traveling with carry-on size luggage only.

  • 2 dresses*
  • 1 skirt or walking short
  • 2 pants (one full length, one capri)
  • 2 tank top
  • 3 t-shirts
  • 3 sweaters (layer over dresses and shirts)
  • 2 bras
  • 6 underwear
  • 4 socks
  • 1 tights/leggings (for warmth, if needed, under dresses/skirt)
  • 1 pyjamas
  • 1 bathing suit
  • 2 scarfs (for warmth and to jazz up your outfit)
  • 3 shoes (flip flops, walking shoes, dressier shoes)
  • 1 lightweight jacket
  •    travel umbrella
  •    sunglasses/hat
  •    jewelery
  •    belt if needed
  •    toiletries

*If you don't enjoy (or feel comfortable) in dresses and/or skirts, trade the 2 dresses for a pair of dressier shorts and a light top.
