I am currently sitting in a gorgeous beachfront rental house in Oceanside, California with 12 of my close family members. My grand intention of finishing up the budget articles and getting everything on this website completely finished went by the wayside when I realized my other option was sitting on the deck staring at the crashing waves and endless flocks of pelicans. I had also hoped to wrap up our accommodations for Italy this summer which may or may not happen depending on the weather; good weather means no computer! Luckily on the way down here we flew US Airways, which does not subscribe to the notion that a happy flier is one with a seatback television, meaning that I got quite a bit done on my computer in lieu of watching the latest chick-flick.
I must remind myself that this is not a life and death scenario and another week or so will not make or break either this website or our Italian vacation - although the longer I leave it the less choices there will be. I think I'm getting a bit complacent with vacation planning and perhaps I should follow my own advice and check out the Planning section! This vacation will not plan itself no matter how much I try and sprinkle magic vacation fairy dust; time to take off my Tinkerbell shoes and get on with it!
I have just spend over an hour looking at Rome apartment rentals and I'm amazed at how affordable they are. Compared to Paris they are an absolute bargain! I've been looking for our upcoming trip but also to gather information for the article on accommodation budgets. The availability is also surprising - there are dozens to choose from even though I've left it a bit late to book (we are going in August) and we only want to stay for 3 nights. I think the economy is helpful in that regard - a few years ago I'm not sure it would've been as easy to find something this affordable (and for such a short stay) in prime travel season. The hunt continues for the perfect one; when I find it I'll divulge my choice!
