What started as a fun idea during a long drive on the September long weekend has grown into this site.  It's interesting, because my husband and I discuss these kind of 'big ideas' often and (admittedly) very few of them come to fruition.  This was different… why?  Well, I love to travel and I love to write.  I don't like to write just anything so don't expect a novel from me anytime soon;  I tried fiction and I'm just not that good at coming up with a story.  I do, however, enjoy writing about real things, especially things that are happening to me!  I am also blessed with the ability to type quickly and accurately so once I get started I'm sometimes difficult to stop.  It's the speeding typing train and we need to send for Keanu Reeves to stop the bus!  (I have mixed up my transportation references but you get the point.)

The only thing I'm struggling with at this point is deciding how much personal information to reveal.  My friends and family already know everything (give me a glass of wine and I'll tell you anything), but what about the potential nutballs in cyberspace?

This site is about traveling, and specifically traveling with kids to Europe.  Obviously my kids are involved in these trips as well as my husband and occasionally other family members and friends.  Do they want their 'stuff' splashed all over the internet?  How much do I reveal when telling you about where we've been, what we're doing, and the silly incidents that inevitably occur?  In a nutshell - I have decided to trust you.  I will talk about what we've learned, where we're going, what crazy things happen to us on the road… and I trust that you will not send crazy, cryptic messages with letters from cut out magazines telling us you're holding my daughter's stuffed hippo ransom.  She really loves that thing and we'd probably be forced to pay a lot.

So here ends the inaugural post… and as this site gets closer to completion I get more and more excited.  Some scribbles on paper have turned into something concrete and I'm really proud of it.  I hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to contact me with any comments or suggestions as this will always be a work in progress.  Happy Travels!
